They are linked to a sharp increases in certain cancers and other human and animal health problems. Current effort to remove them often involve creating new, problematic waste streams or require very high energy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Oxyle&#8217;s founders, Fajer Mushtaq and Silvan Staufert, both PhDs at the scientific university ETH Zurich, have developed a material and process that completely breaks down PFAS into harmless materials with no by-product or enormous energy demands. Their first commercial prototype is working in Switzerland and processing 10 cubic meters of water per hour.
